Sketching a Charcoal Portrait

Hi, everyone! It’s been a little while since I’ve made a process video, and today I would like to share a quick look at how I sketch portraits.

This portrait was done in charcoal, and while I am not by any means a professional sketch artist and I haven’t taken classes, I have still learned quite a bit on my own in the years that I’ve been drawing. I would love to share a few little tidbits on how I accomplish my style of portraits.

Charcoal Portrait Process

In this video, I do a step-by-step process and share my tips on how I piece together a face, and I hope that you find at least a couple of useful bits of information from what I share! Sketching is something that I have always love to do and it truly is one of the things that brings me the most joy. I hope that in making this video I have been able to spread just a little bit of that joy to you!

If you enjoyed this tutorial, then make sure to let me know! And if you have any other types of tutorials or blog posts that you would like to see, let me know by either messaging me or leaving a comment here. I am planning to start doing a lot more videos and posts this year, and I can’t wait to get started.
